FLIFLY and D-lab group were working together in order to improve sustainable agriculture communities, village clean energy programme and Village drip irrigation technology programme of FLIFLY in Kandal and Kampong Thom province. On January 10-11, 2012 FLIFLY’s staff and D-lab’s group visit members of Credit Unions and Sustainable Agriculture Communities in Kandal province to conduct the assessment for composting, biogas, solar and irrigation kit as well as identify households to participate in technology evaluation survey for conduct the training on January 16, 2012.
On January 11, 2012, D-lab’s group visited students and deputy director of non formal education of foreign languages that are under promotion by FLIFLY from 2008 to present without financial support from donors. It is based in Secondary school in Banteaydek commune, Keansvay district, Kandal province, Cambodia. There are 354 students who are farmers’ children. They are living in Banteaydek commune, Keansvay District, Kandal Province, Cambodia. FLIFLY also encouraged them to be members for Banteaydek Credit Union with lucky draw and get commission from Banteaydek Credit Union too.
FLIFLY and D-lab’s group were conducting the training on composting together in office of FLIFLY on January 15, 2012. Ms. Alice Hartley and Mr. Kong Virak who were selected by FLIFLY and D-lab’s group in charge of conduct the training on composting for FLIFLY’s staff and D-lab’s group. And then they were conducting the training on composting on January 16, 2012 for poor farmers, committees of CUs and SACs who were selected by FLIFLY. They live different communes in Keansvay District, Kandal Province, Cambodia.
On January 16, 2012, FLIFLY and D-lab’s group conducted the training on composting at office of FLIFLY. There were 39 people included: 8 people who are staff of FLIFLY, 9 people who are staff and students of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) located in Cambridge, MA 02142, United States, 5 people who are students from ITC, one student from RULE, 14 farmers who are members of Banteaydek Credit Union, 2 farmers who are members of Sustainable Kokithom Agriculture Community. Mr. Kong Virak who is FLIFLY’branch manager and Ms. Alice Hartley who is senior student of MIT were selected by FLIFLY’s president and D-lab’s group leader on January 15, 2012.
On January 24, 2012, FLIFLY and D-lab’s group conducted the training on composting at office of Achalak Credit Union that is based in Seng Sen Town, Kampongthom Province. There were 37 participants who came from 8 people D-lab’group, 2 people from FLIFLY, 19 Achalak Credit Union, 4 people from Preytahou Credit Union, 2 people from Okanthor Credit Union, 2 people from Damreichoinkla Credit Union. FLIFLY and D-lab’s group conducted theory on composting from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and practicum from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
FLIFLY has received technical and financial support from Asian Association Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) for over 4 years to building and organizing credit unions in Kandal, and Kampong Thom province of Cambodia. FLIFLY’s staff works with the committees of Credit Unions closely as well as checking their accounting monthly. These activities that Miss. Rin Davuth checked the accounting of Credit Unions in Kandal Province. FLIFLY is improving the credit unions are deadlock and non cooperation with local authorities and FLIFLY’s staff. FLIFLY ‘s staff also help them to calculate the interest of members saving yearly as well as provide dividend for share members of all credit unions that are under promotion by FLIFLY.
Farmer's Life Improvement and Future Light Youth Organization (FLIFLY) works in partnership with international and local NGOs is improving Village Clean Energy Programme in order to launch climate change to achieve the comm objectives and to contribute to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Currently, FLIFLY and D-lab's group from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) located in Cambridge, MA 02142, United States. We were working from January 09-27, 2012 together to help and support poor farmers that are members of Credit Unions and Sustainable Agriculture Communities that are under promotion by FLIFLY. We made plastic biogas for poor farmer who has requested FLIFLY to help them before. They have 5 children included: 2 daughters and 3 sons. They have small land for planting rice for support their family. They do not have rice enough for support their family. Her husband has to go fishing in the lake that is far from their house about 7 km. It is based in Banteaydek Commune, Keansvay District, Kandal province of Cambodia.
